All of us have or should have a special place within our home where we feel safe, comfy and peaceful. It’s like your dog’s favourite bed, or your Dad’s armchair… it might have a special view, but the essential quality is that you gravitate to it - it makes you feel good. You could call this the sweet spot in your home - if you haven’t found it yet why not have a go at making it happen?

Crystals are part of the earth’s geology. They are ‘formed from the three-dimensional repeating patterns of atoms in the earth’. They are known to possess certain qualities, magnetite for example is strongly magnetic, shunghite is believed to absorb electromagnetics and rose quartz to have protective qualities. Whilst some might label this belief as questionable, it is indisputable that crystals are a underlying component of our planet. The structure of the earth has proven chemical properties, along with the crystals which are a part of it.

Like many people I have experimented with crystals in my home hoping that they will enhance certain aspects of living. This can be done simply by placing the relevant crystal in a specific place such as by your bed, or where you feel its most needed in your home. When building a new house or extension the opportunities for crystal placing are far greater.

With new building plots consider placing a selection of crystals on the corners of your boundary. A selection of loving, protecting and aspirational stones make a good combination.  Crystal expert Alexia Stevenson-Smith laid a grid similar to this on the site where I will be building a new healthy house. Corresponding crystals will be placed under the foundations in the corners of the house. These will be joined to the exterior corner stones, creating a grid, energising both the house and site. You can do this with a new extension or even if you are redecorating a room and laying new floors. Sceptics may underestimate the effects – try it and see.

If all this seems a bit far-fetched consider the photographic research of Dr Mosaru Emoto who showed how different words/emotions affect the crystalline formations of water molecules. During the 1990s Emoto ‘developed a technique using a powerful microscope in a very cold room along with high-speed photography, to capture newly formed crystals of frozen water samples’. He showed through his images that positive thoughts and words create different crystalline structures in water, as opposed to negative thoughts and words. He also found that water samples from extremely polluted rivers directly seemed to express the ‘state’ the water, without forming crystalline shapes.

Emoto’s thesis – proven by photography –revealed a hitherto unbelievable concept that a thought or emotion could physically affect an element i.e. the molecules in water. If thoughts and emotions can affect a water molecule, is it possible that the properties of an earth element such as a crystal, could affect the human body, which is made up of 75% water?
